Danny's Dr's Appointment

Today Daniela went to see the doctor, who said she's a very healthy baby! When she was born she weighed 6lbs 9 1/2oz and measured 19in., both of which are in the 10th percentile. Now, at seven weeks, she weighs 9lbs 14 1/2oz (50th percentile) and measures 22 3/4 in long (75th percentile). She's grown a lot! She's a long, skinny baby, but that's because she's gained the normal amount of weight, but grown more than the normal lengthwise. The doctor said what we already knew, which is basically that she's advanced for her age. She's only a month and a half, but already doing things that most babies don't do until they are three months old. The doctor was actually surprised when we told her Daniela's age, and commented that she seems so much older. She perscribed Daniela some vitamin drops, and said that we should keep putting her in the sun, because the whites of her eyes are tinged a bit yellow. She also has a very small hernia where her bellybutton is, but that it's normal, it's not a hernia that needs to be operated on, because as she gets older the muscles in her abdomen will strengthen and close and fix the problem. She wants to see her back in one month, but just to keep an eye on her. Overall she's healthy and doing very well, which we were (of course) happy to hear.

  1. What did I tell you. I said she was advanced grabbing for the strap on my camera at 2 weeks old and holding her head up while on her tummy so good for pictures. Glad to hear she is gaining and growing so well. She's going to take after both her parents and be a super smart little girl.

And tell Daddy the Doctor said laying in the sun is good....we weren't nuts like he thought we were when we had her sunbathing on the kitchen table.
